A single brake is no doubt unsafe. There is no backup option in case of failure. However, Ege is used to riding brakeless on his fixie as well as his BMX. With the latter, he slams his foot on the rear tire to brake. It’s still necessarry to upgrade to a coaster brake in the future.



Kool-Stop pads enhance the power of the (front) brake.



The original cassette was left on, as it works just as well as a dedicated singlespeed cog. You can see where we cut off the brake mounts in the photo above.


The Ambrosio rims came with the bike originally. They are pretty wide and boost the volume of the Continental Contact Speed tires significantly.
